William Banahene is a professional soccer player currently playing for the Milwaukee Wave in the MASL. Originally from Rochester, New York, he started playing goalkeeper at age 8 with the Brighton Hotshots. William finished his high school soccer career at Brighton High School where they won their first sectional title in 8 years. He went on to become an All American player at SUNY-Canton, before transferring to Division 1 Niagara University. He finished at SUNY Buffalo State, where he holds the record for save percentage in school history. After college, William went on to play two years with the Rochester Lancers, where he was also the fourth team in the NPSL.

William has played six seasons of professional indoor soccer, just recently finishing his second season with the Milwaukee Wave, where they made back to back conference finals appearances.

Banahene loves sharing his knowledge of the goalkeeping with the next generation. He began his coaching career at 18 years old, having worked camps and clinics. He started as GK Coach with Empire United DA/GA for two years. He worked with SUNY Buffalo State and both SUNY Geneseo and now working with the Milwaukee Kickers and SC Wave MLS Next and GA programs.

William has coached a number of notable alumni, with players having gone on to play at Syracuse University, New Hampshire University and University of Nebraska.

In addition to playing and coaching, William started Brighton Football Club in 2018 and Level Up Soccer Camp in 2020, both of which are Rochester based.
